The Society of Miscreants Golf Tournament name is a little misleading in that we
really have three seprate tournaments and not one large three day tournament. Every day, we make up
new teams and prize money is paid out on a daily basis so, if you want to play one
day and sleep, gamble, drink, or just waste the next day, you may and still be
able to play the following day.
The tournament is scored on the “quota” system. Each player is assigned a quota based on
their handicap and our handicap of their ability. There is no "sand bagging" in our tournament. We know all of our members very well and have played lots of golf with each member of our group. New members are referred in and we do check up on handicaps. The official handicapper of The Society of Miscreants has ultimate power to change quota amounts for new members after play has begun and his decision
is final.
A player scores according to the following schedule, 1 pt. for a bogey,
2 pts. for a par, 3 pts. for a birdie, and 5 pts. for an eagle. A player’s quota is modified by half for each
day of play. If a player exceeds his
quota, his quota will go up by ½ of what increase he has; i.e., a person with a
14 quota scores 18 points, then the next day, his quota will go up by 2 points
and his new quota will be 16. If a
player fails to make his quota, his quota will go down ½ of the amount of
shortage. If a person with a 14 quota
only makes 12 points, his new quota for the next day play will be 13.

During the 2013 tournament we paid out prizes each day for teams that finished 1st through 5th and had two closest to the pin prizes, two longest putt prizes, and a worst quota sympathy prize awarded each day. Obviously, these were last year's prizes and we hope to stay on pace with that but it will fluctuate from year to year depending on the amount of players we have. Fallen Oaks will also provide each
group with its own personal caddy at a fee to help navigate this difficult course.
